Fatima is considered one of the most important Catholic Sanctuaries in the World, as being the place where Our Lady appeared several times to the children in 1917, one year before the World War I, predicting that one year later , the World War I would end.

The Children became later Saints (Francisco and Jacinta), and all Popes since Paul VI in 1967 visited Fatima.

Today, Fatima is considered the second most important Catholic Shrine of Europe, after the Vatican, with 7 to 9 million visitors every year.

Due to it’s location (1h30 from Lisbon), Fatima is very famous for both locals and tourists, that visit Portugal and wish to have a religious experience.

One of the highlights in Fatima is the candle procession at night (approx 10PM).
It takes place everyday from Easter to Advent period (End of April to end of November), and during winter time on Saturdays. It usually takes place right after the Rosary, that start by 9h30PM.

There are daily private tours starting at 5PM from Lisbon, to visit Fatima and attend the Candle Procession, returning to Lisbon after the procession: https://sintra-magik.com/tours/fatima-evening-private-tour-with-candle-procession/

Anyone can attend and participate in the candle procession.
