Alentejo is one of the most famous wine regions of Portugal. It was for decades the best wine region in Portugal, and for many still may be the best.
I like very much the red wines of Alentejo, but there are also some whites surprisingly good!
Here is an updated list of 10 wineries to visit in the Alentejo / Evora region this year:
- Cartuxa
- Joao Portugal Ramos
- Tapada de Coelheiros
- Ervideira
- Esporão
- FitaPreta
- Casa Relvas
- Herdade Sao Miguel
- Wines Dona Maria / Quinta do Carmo
- Ravasqueira
These are all superior quality wines, from the best vineyards.
If you wish to visit any of these wineries, let me know and I’ll take you there.
Most of the places listed above are 1h to 1h30 from Lisbon, short distance suitable for a day trip or two days exploring the region.
