Portugal has a huge coastline, full of amazing beaches to explore.
While Lisbon itself only has access to the river (Tejo), there are some beaches close to the city.
Here are 5 beaches to visit from Lisbon:
- Carcavelos – Can be busy during the day and weekends, the closest to Lisbon
- Guincho / Cascais – Nice beaches, but Guincho can be windy. In Cascais smaller beaches with no wind
- Costa da Caparica – A vast area of beaches to choose from. Avoid weekends and August
- Troia / Comporta – Plenty of deserts or uncrowded beaches to choose from. 1h or more from Lisbon
- Algarve – A big extension of beaches in the south of Portugal. Overnight recommended
